There are several different budget-friendly options to consider, ranging from camping to hotels. Some of these choices may lack typical amenities like wifi and pools, but they more than make up for it in charm and proximity to nature.

 

 

Medicine Bow National Forest (Snowy Range Area)

Just half an hour west of Laramie lies Medicine Bow National Forest and the beautiful Snowy Range Mountains. Medicine Bow National Forest offers a variety of camping options. There are 19 developed campgrounds in the Snowy Range Area. While they do not provide RV hookups they are great for tent camping or boondocking. There are also several U.S. Forest Service cabins that may be rented. Additionally, dispersed camping is allowed throughout most of the national forest.

Medicine Bow National Forest (Pole Mountain Area) and Vedauwoo Recreation Area

The Pole Mountain Area of Medicine Bow National Forest is located about half an hour east of Laramie. The Pole Mountain Area has three campgrounds including, the most notable, Vedauwoo Campground. Vedauwoo Recreation area is part of the Pole Mountain Area and boasts incredible rock formations. Campgrounds are great for tent camping or boondocking. There is also fantastic dispersed camping among the unique rocks and terrain.

Curt Gowdy State Park

 

Another great spot for camping is Curt Gowdy State Park. This park provides great access to both Cheyenne and Laramie, as it is just about halfway in between. Curt Gowdy has tent sites, RV sites (some with electric hookups), cabins, and a bunkhouse-style lodge.

Laramie KOA Journey

 

Laramie KOA Journey is clean and sunny. With nearly all the comforts of home, it is a great way to split the difference between camping in the wild and staying in a hotel.

Location: West Laramie

Amenities: RV sites with hookups, camping cabins, tent sites, dog park, free wifi, cable tv, playground, game room, outdoor games, laundry, propane refill/exchange, fitness room, convenience store, picnic tables, grills

Laramie Valley Inn

 

Camping not your thing? Don’t worry, Laramie Valley Inn is an inexpensive option. The location, just a few blocks from downtown, couldn’t be better for enjoying Laramie’s shopping, bars, and restaurants. It is also only a few blocks from lovely Undine Park. The recently remodeled rooms are a welcome retreat. There are also some rooms that have not been remodeled (although they are still comfortable and clean) available for a reduced rate.

Location: Laramie

Amenities: Free wifi, continental breakfast

Pet Policy: 2 pets maximum, $17 fee

Woods Landing Resort 

 

Woods Landing Resort is located in Woods Landing, at the foot of the Snowy Range Mountains. This unique mountain resort could really fit into all three price categories. They have accommodations ranging from camping and rustic cabins, all the way up to a beautiful guest house.

 

Price Point: Ranges based on the type of accommodation $-$$$

Location: Wood’s Landing Wyoming, less than 30 minutes west of Laramie

Amenities: Amenities vary considerably from the campground to the rustic cabins to the river guest house, on-site restaurant, close proximity to hiking, biking, fishing, and many other outdoor activities.

Pet Policy: 2 pet max, $10 per pet per day, limited to certain cabins

Looking for a bit more comfort? These hotels offer great amenities like wifi, indoor pools, and fitness centers for a reasonable price.

 

 

Days Inn By Wyndham 

 

Wyndham hotels are always clean, comfortable, and stylish, this one is no different. The location, just off of Interstate 80 allows for convenient access.

Pet Policy: Limited pet-friendly rooms. Up to 2 dogs per room with an 80-pound weight limit. The Pet rate is $20 per night with a $100 per week maximum.

Comfort Inn is a third budget-friendly option just off of Interstate 80 in west Laramie. They only charge $15 per pet.

Their location on the slope of the Snowy Range Mountains, at the edge of Medicine Bow National Forest, provides stunning views. Holiday Inn is conveniently located near the Interstate, the University of Wyoming, shopping, and restaurants. Their on-site Perkins Family Restaurant (where kids eat free) makes it a perfect choice for families with children.

Hampton Inn is another lovely option near the University of Wyoming and a short distance from Interstate 80. Besides offering a host of wonderful amenities, Hampton Inn does not charge an extra pet fee as long as pets are not left unattended in rooms or brought into the breakfast area.

Also located near the University, AmericInn offers a delicious homestyle breakfast included with the other fantastic amenities. They also all allow for larger size dogs (up to 200 lbs) than most of the other hotels.
