Parks
Whether you're looking to spend a little time laying in the grass with a picnic, expend a little energy, or get a little fresh air, you'll find Laramie's parks are a perfect place to spend some time. Nearly every park has a great playground for kids of all ages, so let's take a look at the features that set each park apart:
Some of our favorite parks include water features, like Optimist Park along the Laramie River, with frequent stops to dip your toes or snag a trout on the 5.75-mile paved green belt. We also love LaPrele Park for the Huck Finn youth stock fishing pond, as well as an excellent frisbee golf course that hops over Laramie's Spring Creek. LaBonte Park rounds out the water features with LaBonte Lake, a paved path rounding the park, and a skate park and beautiful community garden.
For kids, the splash pad at Undine Park is a must, as well as the wading pool at Washington Park in the summer months. Washington Park also offers up handicap-accessible playgrounds separated by age, along with a fitness course, sand volleyball court, and horseshoe pits.
For train enthusiasts, Laramie's Depot Park is a must. After spending some time in the Depot Museum, check out the Snow Train and catch the Union Pacific rumbling by while the littles take advantage of the playground. In the summer months, Laramie's Farmer's Market is hosted at this park each Friday afternoon and offers up a quintessential Laramie experience, with live music, excellent food, and wares from local artisans.
If you brought Fido along on your visit, Laramie offers two off-leash dog parks at Optimist Park and the Sandy Aragon Softball Complex. Check our pet-friendly page for businesses that can cater to your pup as well.
